Warm-up

  •  “Work isn’t just about earning money—it’s also about using your skills, following your dreams, and finding purpose.”
  • Why Work Matters

• Work provides structure, income, and opportunities to grow.
• Doing meaningful work makes life more fulfilling.
Example:
• Teacher → helps students learn and grow.
• Artist → creates work that inspires others.
Deep thinking question:
• Can work be meaningful even if it isn’t your dream job? How?

Dreams and Ambitions

Explain:
• Dreams give direction and motivation in life.
• Following dreams requires planning, effort, and persistence.
Example:
• Aspiring writer → starts with short stories, then builds a book.
• Athlete → trains daily to reach competitions.
Deep thinking question:
• How can small steps help turn a big dream into reality?

Finding Purpose

Explain:
• Purpose comes from aligning your work and actions with your values and passions.
• It gives life meaning and direction.
Example:
• Environmentalist → protects nature because they value sustainability.
• Volunteer → helps community and feels fulfilled.

• How do you know when your work or actions truly have purpose?

Balancing Work, Dreams, and Life

Strategies:

  4. Reflect regularly → ensure your actions match your purpose.
    Example:
    • Student → manages study, hobbies, and social time for balance.
    • Professional → sets career goals while maintaining family life.

    – My goal is to be a doctor so I think my powers will be healing hands, I can use my hand to cure or save people.

    What if finishing a task instantly gave you a magic hat—how many hats would you have now?
    – I will have 120 hats every month. For doing my homework and my chores.

    What if each goal completed grew a rainbow in your backyard—how colorful would it be?
    – I would have few rainbow but not a lot because I procrastinate. 😒

    If purpose could talk, what funny message would it send you right now?
    – It can say ” An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.

    If work/ school could be turned into a game, what level would you be on today?
    – I’m on level 25 because I’m not at the begining of school and not at the end.

    Which famous person would you love to shadow for a day to learn about purpose?
    – Maria Curie because she is proud of her work, she is strong and I can learn a lot from her.

    If your dream could send you advice every morning, what would it say?
    – “Please stop being lazy!!!!” And “Do your best…”. 👌😜😎🥳🥳

  2. Is it better to follow your dream or choose a safe path? Why?
    Start with the dream, because when the dream becomes reality, the safe path appears almost natrually. Win-Win

    Can work that feels boring still give meaning? How?
    Definately. I will never forget the cleaner at Standsted Airport, north of London, who did the meanial task with the greatest of dignity, as if somebody had told him it was the most important job in the entire airport.
    Or the best bakery in Jerusalem, that has done made the same bread for many generations, not changing anything. (Watch Ottolenghi’s Jerusalem for this)

    How do dreams and purpose affect overall happiness in life?
    If you see purpose in your work (irrespective of what others think or say) and it makes you happy?
    And, do you work? Or do you fulfill your vocation, your calling?
    Do you work to live or do you live to work?
